At the request of Mitchell Community College, we must enforce a limit of 400 participants this year.

Classes and Instructors
We are in the process of lining up a staff of very knowledgeable instructors.  We will have sessions on Traditional, Fancy, Grass, Straight, and Ladies dance and clothing.  In addition, there will be sessions on beadwork, quillwork, bustle construction, drumming, OA ceremonies, and much more.  If there are specific topics you would like to see covered, please let us know.  We will try to find a qualified instructor and get the session on the schedule.  If you are interested in teaching a class, please contact Ed deTorres (see below).

Please see that this information is passed on to Arrowmen in your lodge that have a genuine interest in Indian craft and culture.  Also, please invite all Indian Lore Explorer Posts in your council.  Since the Continuing Ed Center can accommodate separate bathroom and sleeping facilities for ladies, we want to invite female members of co-ed Posts also.  We will be using the classrooms and gym for sleeping quarters.  Area motels are noted on the map and website.

Vendors Are by Invitation Only with small tables by permitted by participants

Because of dangerous overcrowding in the gym lobby, ALL Small vendors operated by registered participants will be permitted to set up in the main hallway AS SPACE ALLOWS. Vendors should provide their own table and chairs. We will locate vendors in such a way that no doors, fire extinguishers, fire alarms or other safety matters are blocked. Vendors please limit your area to one table no larger than 30 x 72 inches. The hall area is 10 feet wide and we must keep the passage as wide as possible. We know it is tradition to have the vendors surrounding the dance arena, but this is not possible here. Rest assured, you will get lots of traffic all day and night in the main hallway. All vendors must register upon arrival at the CIS Office Trailer.

Bring Some Chairs for the Gym!

There are no seats in the gym. We will provide as much seating as possible for classes in the gym however everyone is encouraged to bring a folding camp or lawn chair for their personal use. Of course, dancers will still have the benches at powwow time and those benches should be available during the day as well.

Pay Phone

There is one pay phone now in the main hall outside the auditorium (yep, that's the only pay phone on campus)

Keep All Vehicles Off The Grass and Away From The Building

Construction is finally underway (a year late!) and we have no access to the grass areas at all. If you are bringing a camper, please find a place for it on the pavement. Sorry, we do not have any room for tents or teepees this year.

Sleep In A Room

The fire marshall insists there be no sleeping in the hallways, elevator lobby or other blocking of the exits.

Bigger and Meaner and Uglier Bouncers

Eswau Huppeday will provide additional round-the-clock security. This year Eswau Security people are as strong as an ox and twice as smart!

It's After Midnight, Do You Know Where Your Scouts Are?

Security will enforce a curfew for everyone between 1 am and 6 am. If you plan to arrive after 1 a.m., please let us know when you mail in your registration.
